Exotic Pets started becoming a common thing for the middle and upper class in the late 1800s to the 1970s. It seems that many people in the entertainment industry had a fascination with exotic animals and had to have one of their own. It makes a bold statement about their character and says something about their class. Strombergs Exotic Pet catalogue came out in the 70s advertising adoption of flying squirrels, ocelots, peacocks, monkeys, and other peculiar animals. Check out a collection of vintage photographs showing the companionship of unusual pets and their often famous owners.
